Shasta County Has Better Employment Than State Average

Shasta County employment is improving every month, and it’s doing something that it may have never done, which is to consistently beat the state numbers. The November jobless rate was 4.9%, more than a half percent better than the state. The last time it was this low was when it was 4.5% in December of 2019. Booming employment in retail, transportation and other sectors is more than making up for seasonal drops in farm and construction jobs. Tehama County had a 5.1% jobless rate last month. It was 4.4% in Trinity County and 5.7% in Siskiyou County. The nationwide rate was 3.9%.
