A large award has been ordered in a lawsuit filed by the mother of a bicyclist killed in a collision near Shasta Dam almost 4 years ago. 32-year-old Cristobal Heitmann Montero died in April of 2018 on Shasta Dam Boulevard about a mile-and-a-half west of Lake Boulevard in a head-on crash with a motorcyclist, Richard Machado, who had crossed over the center line on a curve in the road. Machado did not have a motorcycle license. He suffered major injuries. Heitmann was a UC Davis Graduate Student working in Redding. A verdict of $25 Million was reached in Shasta County Superior Court in November for Heitmann’s mother, Alejandra Fogerty.
