A man accused of a double murder just north of Redding on New Years Eve has pleaded not guilty. Early Friday morning some residents of Oasis Road, near the western end of Old Oasis, arrived home after being out of the state and discovered that two of their family members had been killed. 28-year-old Colton Wayne Rhone, who was inside a travel trailer where he apparently has been living, was taken into custody. Shasta County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Detectives said he admitted to the murders during questioning. Rhone was arraigned Tuesday on two counts of murder and two enhancements, one for multiple murders and one for using a deadly weapon. It was apparently a knife. Rhone is being held without bail, and he returns to court this Friday.
