Two more deaths by COVID-19 reported in Shasta County Thursday. The are a man in his 50’s and a woman in her 60’s. The total number of active cases being reported currently by public health are 903. 60 are hospitalized, 11 are in the ICU. The Omicron variant appears to cause less severe illness than Delta. However, because it is so much more contagious than Delta, more people will be infected so the number of people hospitalized could be similar to the Delta surge.
