Man Surrenders To Officers After Allegedly Threatening People With A Metal Pipe

A Redding man is accused of threatening people with a metal pipe at a Mount Shasta Mall bar Tuesday night. Officers were called to the Rusty Nail at around 11:30PM on reports of a man outside striking the windows with a sword. 25-year-old Cameron Willits had reportedly walked into the bar carrying what looked like a sword but turned out to be a bent metal pipe. When an employee asked him to leave he apparently raised the pipe as if to strike and told the man he was there to murder him. The man calmly told Willits that he needed to leave and asked him not to murder anyone. As Willits backed out the door, others took the opportunity to lock the door. Willits tried to get back in and started angrily striking the glass with the pipe. That’s what he was doing when police arrived and convinced him to drop the weapon and surrender.
