In just one month, Shasta County’s Coronavirus case rate has gone from 83 per 100,000 to 1,207 per 100,000, and the positivity rate has leaped from 2.1% to 13.4%. Another 209 cases were reported Wednesday, with the cases heavily weighted toward younger people. At least 1,708 Shasta County residents are known to have the virus, though that number is believed to be far higher. There are 89 patients hospitalized with Covid and 10 in the ICU.
