Shasta County Sheriff’s Captain Pat Kropholler is retiring after 36 years with the department. The 50-year-old Kropholler has served in many roles for the department over the years. Upon retirement he was in charge of the Services Division, the Records Unit, the Bomb Squad, the SWAT Team and the Office of Emergency Services. Kropholler was President of the Sheriff’s Administrative Association, which issued a scathing assessment of then-Sheriff Eric Magrini in June, and he was subsequently placed on leave. In announcing the retirement, Sheriff Michael Johnson had only kind words for Kropholler and said the Captain’s last words before officially retiring were “I Will Always Be In Your Corner.”
