A man who loomed large in the Shasta County legal community for nearly 50 years has passed away. Stephen Carlton was a defense attorney who became a prosecutor. He was Shasta County District Attorney from 1981 to 1990, and was elected to be the DA again in 2011. He retired in 2016. District Attorney Stephanie Bridget was appointed upon his retirement, and then elected to the position. She says she knew him her entire career and has many fond memories.
