The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office fight against illegal cannabis has gotten a federal boost. On Tuesday the Board of Supervisors accepted a $200,000 grant from the Drug Enforcement Administration specifically earmarked for cannabis cultivation enforcement. Sheriff Michael Johnson told the board that his newly reformed and funded Marijuana Task Force will have five deputies assigned full time. He also said that since he took over as Sheriff his office has seized more than 19,000 growing plants, almost 3,000 pounds of processed bud, around $57,000 and 19 guns. 6 arrests have been made.
