Cal-Fire has released details about an arson arrest west of Redding early Tuesday morning. Cal-Fire and Shasta County Fire responded to a report of a vehicle fire next to a home on Middletown Park Drive off Swasey in the Centerville area. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but a Cal-Fire Law Enforcement Officer thought it was a suspicious situation so he remained in the area after fire crews left. He contacted 35-year-old Derrick Rose, who was reportedly uncooperative and violent. The officer tased rose, but it had no apparent effect. Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived to assist and Rose was taken into custody. After an evaluation at a hospital he was booked into jail for arson, vandalism and resisting an officer.
