State Grant Will Fund 16,000 Square-Foot Park In Downtown Redding

A new park will be built in the heart of Downtown Redding, thanks to an ambitious statewide beautification campaign administered by Cal-Trans. A Clean California grant will fund a small park in the midst of the newly renovated Market Street area. Cal-Trans says it will convert a sterile parking lot into a welcoming green 16,000 square-foot urban park and turn 500 feet of the adjacent alley between Yuba and Tehama Streets into a lighted pedestrian path. Other Cal-Trans District Two beautification projects include a pocket park in Quincy and a renovation of the Chamber of Commerce building in Modoc County. Since the Clean California initiative launched last July, Cal-Trans has removed 7,400 tons of trash from the state highway system.
