A parolee who gave a false name to Anderson Police was tased before being taken into custody. At 4 O’clock Sunday morning 26-year-old Kevin Carpenter was walking along North Street when an officer stopped to talk to him. He was not suspected of a crime and the name and date of birth he gave showed no record so he was sent on his way. After further research the officer discovered Carpenter’s true identity and the fact he was on Post Release Supervision, so he went back to talk to him again. When he called out to him by his real name, Carpenter started running away and dropped a blanket that had concealed a large machete, which is a violation of his release conditions. He refused to surrender so a Taser was used to subdue him and he was taken to jail.
