Shasta County wants ideas from it’s citizens about how they should spend $35 Million. That’s about how much money the county is getting from the American Rescue Plan Act. The Board of Supervisors wants to spend a good portion of it on a new jail and rehabilitation facility, as well as some fire fuel breaks and some other wish list items, but the county government also wants to hear some ideas from the public. There are some limitations and guidelines for how the money can be spent, but also a great deal of flexibility. A synopsis of the spending criteria, and an opportunity to provide input, can be found on the Shasta County website under “American Rescue Plan Act”.
