The Redding City Council will resume discussion at next week’s meeting about the private development of City of Redding-owned land including the Civic Auditorium and the Rodeo Grounds. A major developer and ballpark builder called Populous, along with the McConnell Foundation and K-2 Development, have elaborate plans for that 200 acres, of which the public has so far seen only a glimpse. The process was delayed in December for clarification about declaring the land surplus, which would be the first step before eventually entering into negotiations, according to City Manager Barry Tippin. The council will take up the issue Tuesday during the regular 6 O’clock meeting. The most up-to-date information on the process can be found at cityofredding.org/landdiscussion or by calling the City Manager’s Office at 225-4060.
