The body of an apparent drowning victim has been recovered from Lake Shasta. Last Monday the man’s houseboat came untethered from the bank near the O’Brien Inlet. He went into the water and tried to recover the rope, but witnesses say after he went underwater he never resurfaced. The Sheriff’s Boating Safety Unit and the Dive Team spent most of that day searching but the very windy conditions and the steep bank made it very difficult. On Friday the Dive Team returned and used a remote control submarine to find the body about 100 feet underwater, and divers then recovered the body and released it to the Coroner’s Office.
