A Redding man held officers in a stand-off after threatening his neighbors, according to Redding Police. 46-year-old Jeffrey Eckwall has had a long history of tension with his neighbors at the north end of Pine Street, as they say he has harassed and terrorized them. He was recently arrested for drug charges, domestic violence and resisting arrest after bizarre behavior in front of a school. At 11:20 AM Monday morning police were called on reports that Eckwall had threatened to kill his neighbors and brandished a knife at them. He then barricaded himself inside his apartment. Officers tried to negotiate with Eckwall for over two hours but he refused to come out as he shouted vulgarities and threw things around inside, yelling that he was not going to jail. An arrest warrant was obtained and officers forced their way through the front door, which had been fortified with furniture. Eckwall was also barricaded inside an upstairs bedroom. When officers forced that door open and let a K9 in, Eckwall jumped from the second story window and tried to run away, but another K9 was waiting for him and apprehended him.
