A Redding man with a history of violent crimes is accused of assaulting a newborn infant. At 2:23Am Wednesday the RPD was called to Loma Street. 30-year-old Rakim Leedy had reportedly pointed a gun at a man, threatening to kill him, then assaulted the man’s 5-week-old baby before fleeing the area. Officers searched for Leedy but couldn’t find him until a traffic stop after 5PM Wednesday afternoon. The car allegedly contained multiple guns and drugs. Leedy was booked into jail on a long list of charges. In 2017 Leedy was convicted of shooting at a person from a moving car and sentenced to 7 years in prison. He was released after serving 3 years and is still on parole. This was his third arrest since his release.
