Cal-Fire will be burning alongside Highway 36 in Tehama County this week. The operation had been planned for last week, but was postponed after the Rancho Fire broke out. The roadside burns will eliminate vegetation that could cause trouble as wildfire danger increases. Monday through Wednesday crews will burn a little over a hundred acres along Highway 36 east from Stice Road to Sevenmile Creek and from Supan Gulch to the Paynes Creek Bridge. On Wednesday through Friday, crews will head to the other side of Red Bluff and burn along Highway 36 west from Mile Marker 28 to the Dibble Creek Bridge. The projects will mostly be done at night between 6PM and 4AM, and drivers should be aware of emergency vehicles along the roadside.
