Six River Lightning Complex Of Fires Burns Nearly 9,000 Acres

A lightning storm that swept through the Trinity Alps on Friday started at least a dozen fires. The Six Rivers Lightning Complex north of Willow Creek has burned 8,975 acres. The Oak, Ammon and Charlie Fires south of Willow Creek have burned 4,600 acres. The Campbell Fire to the north of the lightning complex on the west side of Campbell Ridge has burned 3,600 acres. The Bremer Fire above the Bigfoot Subdivision is 542 acres. The Waterman/Cedar Fire northeast of Willow Creek is 728 acres. There’s no containment on any of the fires. They’re burning a lot of cured and dead trees from last Winter’s ice storms and are threatening the communities of Salyer, Willow Creek and others. It is also threatening water quality and endangered species in the South Fork of the Trinity River and adjacent Hoopa Tribal areas. Current evacuation orders can be found at community.zonehaven.com.
