Drunk Drivers Keep RPD Busy

There was a flurry of DUI-suspected traffic collisions between Saturday night and early Sunday morning, according to Redding Police. Just after 7pm a car going fast westbound on Placer Street left the road while turning right on Magnolia and smashed into a fence, bushes and almost the building at Schreder Planetarium. The driver fled the scene. 35-year-old Nolan York was found nearby and arrested.
At 20 minutes after midnight a car northbound on Bechelli Lane crashed into a parked vehicle, pushing it into several others and damaging them as well. 38-year-old Justin Knapp, who’s on probation for DUI, was arrested for another one.
Another crash into a parked car happened less than an hour later on Mission De Oro Drive. Police say 38-year-old Traci Stefani fled the scene but was found nearby and arrested.
An hour after that 27-year-old Monique Perez was arrested after police say she was intoxicated when she lost control on Highway 273, crossed the center median and then went across the northbound lanes before crashing into a ditch between the highway and the railroad tracks.
Redding Police want everyone to know that drunk driving kills about 32 people every day in the U.S. However, none of these crashes resulted in significant injuries.
