An East Redding home was heavily damaged by a fire that was blamed on a dog Tuesday. A little after 1:30PM Redding Fire Department was dispatched to a house on Corona Street. Nobody was home but a fire was burning in the kitchen and throughout the attic. It was brought under control in about 20 minutes after causing major damage to half of the house and all of the attic. The monetary value of the damage is estimated at $100,000 to the house and $40,000 worth of contents. The family had four dogs that were rescued by firefighters. One was in the backyard and three were inside, one of which did not survive. The others were taken to a veterinarian. Investigators determined the fire had been caused by one of the dogs trying to get food that was left on the gas stove.
