Monkeypox has apparently arrived in Shasta County. Health and Human Services says the county’s first case has been identified and a authorities are doing contact tracing to try to find the path of the disease. Officials say the risk of getting Monkeypox is extremely low, as it’s mostly spread through prolonged physical contact with someone’s open sores. The county does have a very limited supply of vaccine, which is being distributed to high-risk individuals. More information is at shastaready.org.
