Several fires broke out Wednesday in Shasta and Tehama Counties. A fire Wednesday morning in the area of Windwalker Lane and Small Farms Drive west of Happy Valley was held to about an acre. A grass and brush fire was reported just before 11:30AM in the area of Airpark Drive near Sonoma Street near Benton Airpark. Crews were able to hold the fire to 6 acres. Another fire was reported around 1PM and was burning off of Dogwood Lane near Lake Boulevard. The fire was burning in the canyon below Masonic Avenue near the Sulfur Creek Hill in an area frequented by the homeless. Redding Fire Department was able to stop that fire at about an acre. Shortly after 5 O’clock a vehicle malfunction sparked a fire in Tehama County south of Auction Yard Road and north of the Red Bluff Rest Area. It was contained to 8 acres.
