Man Who Dragged Victim Behind Motorcycle Convicted Of 1st Degree Murder

A Red Bluff man has been convicted of first degree murder and torture for the death of a man who was dragged behind a motorcycle in February of last year. Johnny Gregory was the upstairs neighbor of 38-year-old Ray Ray Cain Jr at a Franzel Road apartment complex. Cain beat up Gregory in his apartment, then tied a rope around his ankles, dragged him downstairs and tied the rope to the back of his motorcycle. When officers arrived Cain had dragged Gregory down the street about three blocks. One of the officers fired three shots to try and stop Cain but he missed. The motorcycle turned onto South Jackson Street and Gregory’s body came loose. Officers pursued Cain until he crashed on South Main Street near I-5. He was treated at Saint Elizabeth for moderate injuries and then booked into jail. He’ll return to court for sentencing on September 22nd.
