Man Accused Of Attacking Two People With A Machete Arrested At Local Homeless Camp

Redding Police say they arrested a man accused of attacking two people in South Redding with a machete last week. Police had been looking for 37-year-old Eli Crowe after the attack under the Clear Creek Bridge in Redding last Thursday. At about 7:30AM that morning, police responded to the area and found Charles Carroll and Emily Maw suffering from multiple life-threatening lacerations to their bodies. Officers say that Carroll told them that Crowe had attacked them with a sword and machete at their camp under the Clear Creek Bridge. Police searched the area, but were unable to locate Crowe. On Wednesday afternoon officers located Crowe at an encampment in a greenbelt area off Eastside Road, and he was taken into custody. Crowe was later booked into the Shasta County Jail for charges related to attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and criminal threats. Both victims were treated at a local hospital and were last reported in stable condition, according to Redding Police.
