Tehama County Sheriffs Department Will End Daytime Patrols

In a drastic move announced the evening before Election Day, the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office says it will discontinue the most visible and definitive of its services. Starting November 20th, the department will discontinue daytime patrol services throughout the county, leaving those responsibilities to the municipal police departments and the CHP. Deputies will, for now, continue to patrol the county at night. Tehama County officials have had to drain their Operations Division in order to fill vacancies in the courts and the jail, and have been even less successful than other Northern California law enforcement agencies in efforts to recruit new blood.
