Update: Victims Of Double Homicide In Trinity County Identified

Some details, including names, have been released concerning a double homicide in Trinity County. Just after 9 O’clock Monday morning David Whitehouse reportedly shot and killed Shane Gillispie on Main Street in Weaverville near the Nugget Restaurant. About a half hour later Whitehouse allegedly shot and killed Lloyd Von Meersheidt at his home in Trinity Center. Deputies and CHP Officers later spotted Whitehouse’s vehicle traveling south on Highway 3 back toward Weaverville. The pursuit ended when Whitehouse barricaded himself at his home on Forest Avenue. Multiple Northstate law enforcement agencies, including Redding and Anderson Police, and the Shasta County Sheriffs Office, were called to assist with the standoff. Nearby neighbors were ordered to shelter in place, and schools were locked down. After hours of calling out to Whitehouse by phone and loudspeaker, officers eventually forced entry into the home and found Whitehouse dead from an apparently self-inflicted injury.
